What does your child gain from ‘Learn to Sail’?

Children gain knowledge about the sport of sailing. They will learn from the Yachting New Zealand ‘Sailors Log Book'.

Sailing teaches children self confidence as they learn how to control a boat powered by something that is not controlable. The wind!

Sailors gain life experience in the sport of sailing. It builds confidence, inspires courage and rewards perseverance. It teaches children about the environment and a healthy respect for the sea.

Learning to sail in an Optimist is about the individual. They are in charge of everything they do or don’t do.  Sailing teaches self confidence as well as team work. By being in a group, sailors can help and learn from one another. Team work is encouraged when launching, rigging, and packing the boats away.
