Level 1 Learn to Sail
This course is for complete beginners, or sailors with limited knowledge.
The course runs either, every Saturday for three weeks 9am until 3pm, or five Thursday nights 5pm-8pm.
The course is a mixture of both theory and practical, it is a level 1 Yachting New Zealand Seamanship course.  By the end of this course you will have a basic understanding of sailing and be a confident crew on a sailboat.
Course Costs  $350

 

Level 2 Learn to Sail
This course is for someone who already has a knowledge of sailing or who has completed the level 1 course.  The course runs either, four Saturdays 9am-3pm and one weeknight, or ten Thursday nights 5pm-8pm.  In this course you will build on what you have learn to in level 1, you will also cover anchoring, navigation, spinnakers and seamanship.  At the end of this course you will take a boat out without an instructor on board.
Course costs $450

 

Ladies Wednesday Sailing
This course is the same as the level 1 course but taught by ladies for ladies, the course runs every Wednesday
morning 930am-1230am for 5 weeks, after level 1 you can move on to level 2 which is 10 weeks.

Learn to Race
This course is for people who are already confident
sailors and want to get into racing.  You will be an active crew on a J24 with a top professional Skipper at the helm. Every 2 weeks you will rotate crew position though mainsheet, Bow, Trimmer and pit. You will be taught how to use the spinnaker, boat handling, race tactics and how to win!. For this course you race in the BBYC Tuesday night series 5pm-8pm for 8 weeks. 
Course costs $260

Finishes 15th November for level 1, 22nd November for level 2
Course 3 starts 29th November finishes 13th December for level 1, 20th December for level 2
Week night course (Thursdays)
Course 1 Starts 20th November Finishes 18th December

 

Ladies Wednesday Sailing
Course 1 Starts 8th October finishes 5th November
Course 2 starts 12th November finishes 18th December

 

Learn to Race (Tuesdays)
Course 1 starts 7th October finishes 2nd December. No racing on the 28th October

BBYC Sailing Academy has its own fleet of five
modified J24 Keelboats.  J24’s are the best size boat to
learn on and ours have been purposely modified for
Learn to Sail.

We have a great team of Instructions at BBYC sailing
 academy. Our Instructors are dedicated to giving you
the best learn to sail experience availabe.,Our
instructors are Yachting New Zealand qualified and
have a huge amount of sailing and Coaching experience.

 

Instructor to student ratio
On each boat we have four student and one instructor,
this means you are an active part of the crew the whole
time,as well as getting much more attention from the
instructor.

Our goal is not only to teach you how to sail, but to get
you regularly sailing and racing out of our club. We offer
a comprehensive training program, from learn to sail
though to advanced racing and crew placement.
