News

Here you will find updates on the latest news from the Bucklands Beach Yacht Club BBYC and its sailors.

BBYC Sailing Academy Team Racing Teams Macleans College and St Kentigerns College competed in the  NZTSA Secondary School Team Sailing National Championships last week.

They had an amazing week of weather which allowed them to complete five full round-robins including a repechage and their amazing team of race officers ran over 600 races over the week. They saw everything, from big race upsets and drama on the course, to great camaraderie and friendships being made off the course.

Macleans came 6th overall in Gold and St Kentigerns came 6th overall in Silver.  Overall results can be found www.nzteamsailing.co.nz but for now congratulations to the all the schools that competed!

420 Team Racing
Auckland Club 24th & 25th March 2021

Two of our Team Racing Teams Macleans College & St Kentigerns College had a very enjoyable and successful two day regatta.  They sailed 12 races over the two days against teams from all over Auckland.  It was a great regatta, and their many hours of training both on and off the water really paid off.  The Macleans College team came second overall and St Kentigerns came third overall, and both have qualified in the gold fleet for the upcoming National Championship, which will be held in the April school holidays.

Our RS Feva Youth sailors joined in the regatta at RAYC last weekend in the Breezy condtions which proved tricky for some of the crews.

Ben McKeen (BBYC) & Jono Lowe (MSC) in 7416 finished 2nd overall and 1st Youth at the RAYC Traveller Series on the weekend.

Tim Townend & Charlie Sheppard in 7001 did really well completing all 8 races to finish 6th Youth team in only their second regatta.

NZ RS Feva Nationals - 12th & 13th Dec 2020

Congratulations to Tim and Pedro from Bucklands Beach Yacht Club, Yesterday they finished 3rd at the 2020 NZ RS Feva Association Nationals.  Last week they decided to jump into a boat they haven't sailed before and go and have some fun. Also a mention too Carter Robson and Ben Mckeen also sailing for BBYC.  The sailors overcame the 20-30+ knots both days, quite a few swims, and a couple of costly gear failures to have a great weekend.
